trip to Cancun

This Mexican paradise, Cancun, is a perfect destination if you’re looking to spend your vacations in an environment having combined colorful natural sights with a fascinating culture. Honored with world-class nightlife, white-sand beaches, turquoise sea, and kaleidoscopic coral reefs. Things to do extend well beyond the coastline and the clubs – there are natural pools called cenotes, plus multiple must-visit Mayan archaeological sites, such as Chichen Itza and Tulum, to discover, too.

If you are planning to travel to Cancun then you should read this article to get a concise list of some of the best things to do and places to visit to make your trip memorable as well as sensational.

Explore the Ruins of Chichen Itza

In addition to partying and golfing Cancun also allows its guests to get in touch with history. Dating back to the 5th century, The ancient  Maya city of Chichen Itza is both a UNESCO world heritage site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Chichen Itza is arguably the most famous and well-preserved Mayan archaeological site in the world and therefore is also one of the most popular. The site is vast with much to see and can become very crowded so allow several hours to explore.

Play golf in Cancun

With its tropical weather and beautiful golf courses in Cancun, Mexico, this destination welcomes holidaying players 12 months a year. Every winter, Cancun International Airport welcomes weather-weary golfers from the north. It’s less than a four-hour flight to Cancun from major gateways like New York, Chicago, Toronto, and Denver. Besides the Cancun golf courses, golfers can stay in the best all-inclusive golf resorts, where guests can revel in the beach, boating, fishing, water sports such as parasailing and water skiing, spa, tennis, and more.

Snorkel With Whale Sharks

Swimming with sharks might seem strange but on the Yucatan coast near Cancun and many other such spots in Cancun you can experience it at the most reliable spot worldwide to see and swim with the endangered whale sharks. These gentle giants are very docile and extremely agreeable to swimming alongside humans and the youngest whale sharks are as playful as overgrown puppies.

A  busy shark season starts in June and ends in September. All safety standards are followed while snorkeling trips to keep this experience safe and memorable.

Swim In The Cenotes

Cenotes pronounced as ‘cey-NO-days’ are underground caverns formed when limestone caves in, leaving a sinkhole in the earth that fills with clear turquoise water. There are around 20000 known cenotes within easy reach from some of Mexico’s best vacation spots. Most cenotes are reachable by way of a 45-minute ferry from Cozumel, or a few hours’ drive from Cancun, Playa del Carmen, or Tulum. Some cenotes are open to the sun and surrounded by tropical trees and hanging vines which are great for a swim or snorkel, while others are parts of the vast, underground cave and river systems, fun to scuba through on a guided tour at a minimal fee and with some safety tools.

Swim at the Underwater Museum

Museums are the favorite place of history lovers but this underwater Museum will surely amaze everyone irrespective of whether they have any interest in history or not. This astonishing underwater art museum MUSA is in between Cancun and Isla Mujeres with over 500 sculptures by six artists designed and installed to encourage the growth of coral and replenish the habitat of tropical marine life. Sculptures include giant hands, naval mines, VW Beetles, and life-sized people modeled after Cancun locals and new additions are continuously being made. Glass-bottom boat or snorkeling for the two Cancun locations or scuba diving in the Isla Mujeres portion are some of the ways to visit this amazing underwater museum, MUSA.
