How to Make Sip of Health in ESO (Every Reagent Combo)
The first healing potion you can craft. Here are the reagent pairs that give a clean Sip of Health.
In this article
Sip of Health is the first healing potion you can craft in The Elder Scrolls Online. The recipe is simple: Natural Water plus two reagents that share the Restore Health trait, combined at any alchemy station. Here are the combinations that work, where to find the herbs, and how to avoid crafting the wrong potion for a writ.
What you need
- Natural Water. The level 3 solvent. You gather it from water nodes early on, and guild traders usually sell it in bulk for very little.
- Two Restore Health reagents. Seven reagents carry the trait: Blue Entoloma, Bugloss, Butterfly Wing, Columbine, Luminous Russula, Mountain Flower and Water Hyacinth.
- An alchemy station, found in cities, many towns and player homes.
Combinations that give a pure Sip of Health
A potion takes every effect its reagents share. These pairs share Restore Health and nothing else, so the result is a plain Sip of Health:
| Reagent 1 | Reagent 2 |
|---|---|
| Columbine | Water Hyacinth |
| Mountain Flower | Water Hyacinth |
| Bugloss | Mountain Flower |
| Bugloss | Water Hyacinth |
| Blue Entoloma | Columbine |
| Blue Entoloma | Mountain Flower |
| Blue Entoloma | Water Hyacinth |
| Butterfly Wing | Columbine |
| Butterfly Wing | Mountain Flower |
| Columbine | Luminous Russula |
The easiest pair for new players is Columbine + Water Hyacinth. Both grow in every zone outside Coldharbour. Water Hyacinth sits near rivers and lakes, and Columbine grows out in the open.
One pair to watch: Columbine + Mountain Flower share Restore Stamina as well, so they make a potion that restores both health and stamina. That’s handy in a fight, but it isn’t what a Sip of Health writ asks for.
Crafting it
- Open the alchemy station’s Creation tab.
- Place Natural Water in the solvent slot.
- Add two Restore Health reagents, such as Columbine and Water Hyacinth.
- Confirm the preview shows “Sip of Health”, then craft.
If the preview shows unknown traits, craft once anyway. Successful combinations reveal the shared trait, and you’ll recognise it next time.
Writs and higher-level versions
Early alchemy writs ask for a specific named potion. A Sip of Health must be made with Natural Water. Clear Water gives a Tincture of Health, Pristine Water a Dram of Health, and so on up to Essence of Health with Lorkhan’s Tears at CP 150. The same reagent pairs work at every tier, so learning them now pays off for the whole game.
Making stamina potions too? Our guide to crafting a Sip of Stamina in ESO lists the reagent pairs.
Quick tips
- Columbine is the most useful early herb. It restores health, magicka and stamina, so it fits all three basic sips.
- Keen Eye: Reagents in the Alchemy skill line makes herbs much easier to spot.
- Craft a stack at once. A Sip of Health is cheap to make, and it’s worth keeping a few on your quickslot while you level.
